The Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art presents its first solo museum exhibition of innovative artist Demond Melancon, who works solely with a needle and thread to sew glass beads onto canvas. Expanding on the centuries-old Black Masking Culture of New Orleans, Big Chief Demond Melancon is well known for creating massive suits as a Black Masker. As Any Means Are Necessary will debut a host of new work, including a completely new type of art object in the artist’s practice.

Sip and stroll to a bluegrass band on the grounds of Drayton Hall

Historic Drayton Hall is celebrating the end of summer with a one-of-a-kind beer and wine festival. Grab a local beer or glass of wine and join Charleston’s favorite bluegrass band, Yee Haw Junction, while strolling the celebrated grounds. Guests will also receive a complimentary wine glass or koozie to take home, along with two drink tickets. House tour tickets must be purchased separately, and the event is for guests ages 21-plus only. Tickets are $45 for members and $50 for non-members.
